plans for the future (15)
Hello visitor.
I'm sitting in an introductory business class, feeling bored. I've actually felt bored ever since the moment I touched down in the US from Iceland. I feel like I mention Iceland every 3 sentences nowadays, but it really was the best time I've ever had. It's taken me some time to realize that the reason I had so much fun was not because Iceland is some magical place (although it's the best travel country, IMHO). I enjoyed Iceland so much because it was my own experience and no one else's. I controlled where I went, what I ate, and I made all my own mistakes; there was no shortage of those.
Because I haven't been doing enough side quests, I've become pretty depressed and irritated lately. Yesterday, I woke up and realized my pattern, so I went ahead and bought a bicycle off facebook marketplace. I have big plans for this bike. It's some old Giant bike with 21 gears and whatever. It's very light and sturdy. This bike will be the vessel for a few new side quests I will be doing.
My main plan is to bike 26 miles, a full marathon, from my house in central NJ to my college house in New Brunswick. There aren't really any bike lanes on that route. I feel like this would be an awesome challenge for me. I rode 10 miles on an old bike I had once and I was cooked, so a full marathon will be pretty crazy to achieve. The route should take 2h11m nonstop or about 3 hours with breaks and stops. I'm very excited to get started on this quest, so I'm gonna bike long distances for a few days or weeks to get acclimated to the danger and exhaustion of biking in the suburban USA.

My secondary, more long-term plan is to go to Costa Rica during the Thanksgiving recess from school. Costa Rica looks siiiiiick. There's definitely a lack of research on my part. I know that it's in Central America, the prices are very reasonable, and it's a gorgeous tropical(?) country with amazing views I've seen on Instagram. I don't really know how much it'd cost but it might land around $2500-3000. I also might go with my dad this time, which will be an entirely new experience for me. I usually travel either solo or with the whole family. I'm in need of a good boys trip though, so I'm very hype about this whole thing.
I want to nail down a few other more minor tasks, too. I need to be more consistent with my blog, for sure. I can't forget about you guys. I also really need to get out and hike more, as I haven't done jack since Iceland. Watkins Glen state park looks totally awesome and it's only a 4 hour drive away, so definitely gonna add that to the list. I need to focus up on my career a bit. It might sound boring, but I'm finally getting into good form with my schoolwork lately, and I'm really excited to maybe get an internship or project next summer. If you're a recruiter reading this, I'm really interested in FP&A and investment banking!!
Those are my current plans for the future in terms of side quests. I'm open to more, so hit me up if you're doing anything cool. I really don't wanna be bored anymore and what I'm doing seems worth it. If I can do this stuff and keep my career in check, I'll be in good shape. Goodbye!
Get back to class,
Ayaan
